Zilgen
Patron of Shadow and Death
Among the most powerful souls that inhabit the Grand Chasm, Zilgen the Soul-bender stands out in that wrecked place. With his scythe of ice, he roams the Penumbria Realm, the treacherous maze where the Godfather hides His failures and mangled creations. When Eirisse’s plea reaches the Godfather’s throne room, Zilgen’s name begins to be chattered among the heaven dwellers. The Godfather summons the Soul-bender and tasks him with his most daunting challenge yet: to descend to Gotterhavn and lives among the warring patrons. But he does not arrive as the Soul-bender. When he appears in Gotterhavn, Zilgen reveals that he is to be a new patron: the patron of shadow and death.
Lurking in the nooks and crannies of Gotterhavn, Zilgen watches the warring souls and snatches those unfortunate enough to see his face. He delivers deadly gashes of cold steel that send other patrons’ faithfuls into the Grand Chasm, only to be reborn again in Gotterhavn under Zilgen’s banner, bound by a vow that shackles their free will. For a while, Zilgen remains devoted to the Godfather’s task, by snatching only Noverod’s growing army, but such loyalty does not last long. Soon, Zilgen begins to snatch whosoever he wishes. He is now the eternal embodiment of an inevitable threat, abstract and covert. Grim as he is, Zilgen personifies a sardonic lord that mocks the very idea of Gotterhavn.
